My 96 Cooper keeps stalling at junctions. The revs just drop right down as you slow down and unless you can quickly rev it before it get belows about 800 rpm it stalls. It starts again no problem, and drives fine once the revs are up. Tick over is around 800/1000 when cold and this problem only starts once the engine has warmed a little. The throttle did seem a bit slack so I thought this was the problem and tightened it a bit to get the tick over at 800 ish which I believe is the recommended. It hasn't solved the problem though and the cable seems a little slack again. Any suggestions? The car has been off the road for a year having the body done, but was running fine beforehand. Perhaps it is because it was sat in a garage and now doesn't want to play anymore?!

trying to think if a 96 is SPi or MPi. Anyhow, have a look in the FAQs for SPi running problems and see if it gives you a hint. If not, hang around for our resident injection "expert" Mini Sprocket......

thanks. just found the section you refer to actually. it is an SPI and I found a useful 'article' from Sprocket ref adjusting the throttle cable. Looks like I'm gonna have to find a mini specialist to deal with the problem, it's beyond my capabilities!
