Ok so my mini is as follows:

Studio 2, H reg, Standard 998 engine with rc40 exhaust.

Problem:

Ive noticed every now and then when letting the clutch pedal up there is a sort of "erk" groaning noise on the first part of travel.. its not a shrill or metal scraping sound. Difficult to describe it really! I can feel it through the pedal but as far as I can tell it doesn't affect the clutch action in any way. Its not a groan from the mechanism arm itself as there is no noise when the car is off.

Am I just imagining it? Is there anything I can do to further diagnose it?

Ive also noticed when taking corners (especially roundabouts) at a good pace the revs will increase silly amounts with no increase in speed then go back down as i leave the corner?

I'm stumped.. better start rebuilding that engine in the shed.. Methinks Nelly is trying to tell me something!

Clutch slip. Worn plate or oil from leaking primary seal. Any oil on the jiggle pin?

Bottom of the bell housing there is a hole with a split pin it, hole is to let oil out and split pin " jiggles" around to keep hole clean! If there is a lot of oil coming from primary gear oil seal ( red seal) then there will be a drip under the car under the clutch housing ( bell housing) on the right hand side. Drivers side if UK RHD.

If no oil then clutch plate is worn

The revving is indicative o clutch slip.

Ahh thank you! Will take a look in the morning, I have a feeling it might be the oil leak as there is sometimes a little drip under where i park.

Would it be worth replacing the clutch anyway?
