This is only a guide and believe me collectors will fight to the death for a Mint example in a Mint box.

Even if the box is a repro?

No repro boxes are two a penny and 99.9% are poor at that. my friend in America has an original box in mint condition but refuses to slit it down the seam for decent copies to be made from. Cant blame him really.

Here are a few more close up pictures for you non believers out there. I can assure you my Pop Art is 100% genuine and not a repaint. I paid £2,538 at SAS auction house last November without the box. You are correct though in saying the box is a copy. I very much doubt there are many genuine ones around. I do know my stuff as ive been a dealer and collector for over 25 yrs. Have another look.

I guess if it has been purchased from a reputable auction house then it should be genuine, it's just in the pictures it looks a bit iffy and there are many fakes out there. I have never been to an SAS auction but I know it's run by one of the experts seen on the many antiques shows on the BBC.

He wouldn't need to cut the box, a top notch camera or scanner, each side taken, and some photoshop skills would fix all.
