anything with discs on should have taper rollers, still not convinced they are better mind.
whats your vote with the replacements dave?
Both my 85 ritz and the 94rover had tapers all round, but the fronts on the 94 were non-original.
Question, Rollers or balls?

Have found balls to be stronger and longer lasting on all minis including race, rallycross, 13", etc.
there is a technical explanation for this that a friend of mine wrote (he *does* bearings for a living..) - he put it on one of the forums years ago (miniclassic).

I would like to stress (pardon the punn) the reference to Metro's using balls is not a like for like comparison. The offset on the metro wheel is the best part of an inch less than that of a mini, meaning the center of the wheel is almost directly above the bearings, and hence the loads placed on the bearings are at a completely different angle.

i was more amazed at the free-wheeling speeds down a hill near me, i've seen a difference of 15mph between the two bearing sets. Though i have to admit, its not the only change on the car. Doubt it has much to do with the life of the bearings though.
