Hi I was going to build a 1380 weber 45 etc

ATM I have my omega pistons
Weber 45
And a stage 4 head

But I have now been tempted with the 1.3 16valve micra engine

What sort of power outputs are there on the micra engine

without the cat and a decent exhaust, a different inlet manifold, I would think in the 90bhp area. mine is a bit quicker than a friends well sorted 1380, however mine is a standard engine and is much more reliable. with a set of cams you are looking somewhere above 130bhp. i jonez has played with his micra a bit, i'm sure he will post soon.

remember if you are tuning an a series you are getting the power up to the area of a stock k11

If you start tuning the k11, you are going to achieve higher power outputs than you can get with an a series.

depends on how much you pick up the donor car for, but £900 is tight but possible if you do a lot of work yourself. gear linkage is easy, you will understand when you see it, just modify the micra 1. it fits the hole in mini floor without any modification to bodyshell

There's a link to a guide somewhere in Ian's thread, worth a read as Ian did the conversion on a budget.

i kept suspension but altered the bottom pin and mount.( the bent 1 that goes under driveshaft) on the passenger side.

theres a few builds on here and everybody has done subframes differently. all seem to have worked well.

get reading and make sure its what you want, if it is you will get plenty advice/encouragement on here

if not go back to your plan A and build a 1380

A Micra engine would fit in one of these, but you'll also need the bent Allspeed tie-bars and adjustable style bottom arms.

As it says, just a bare frame. Allspeed tie-bars and bottom arms are expensive, but nothing else is a straight fit on these subframes.

mine came in at under £500 but i all ready had some of the bits and i fabricated everything

whole micra £150

steel for frame £40

carbs £60

fuel pump £35

engine mounts £15

shafts welded £35 (i think)

things that i already had

megajolt £250 ish these days

MPi rad and fan £80 ish

the suspension i managed to keep standard with out any modification at all

can just about see that its all normal in this pic

IMAG0561-1.jpg

the gear linkage is probably the easiest part,

  1. take the nissan linkage cut it in half,

  2. bolt one half to the car

  3. then the other to the box,

  4. line up the shafts,

  5. mark them up

  6. cut to length

  7. weld back together

i think the question to ask is how many people would go back to the A series? i'd guess that most people who have done this (and other conversions) would not.
