Hi, a few weeks a go I bought a 1990 Racing Green but, I don't really know anything about it :-
I've had a look on the ltd editions register but the checkmate and racing green page is still under construction :'(

Can anybody tell me more about it?

Ta,
Natalie :proud:

Not sure about numbers made or anything but the Racing green and Flame Red (was there a third?) were limited editions Rover made to test the water for the Cooper. The Racing has the Cooper interior, white roof and twin coachline. Thats about it really.

I think I read a thousand somewhere, but I don't know whether that is a 1000 Racing Greens, 1000 Checkmates and 1000 Flame Reds - which seems more likely or 1000 combined.

My interior is the same as this (from a Checkmate) Posted Image

Hi PinkGirly

My car is the same model as yours but red, had the Flame Red decals. They made the Flame Red, Racing Green and Check Mate as part of the same range. They all came with the same interior and white roof, chrome bumpers, alloy wheels etc. I think they were meant to be a cheaper option to the Cooper.

In our cases it can be slightly confusing as the year before ours they brought out the Mini Racing and Mini Flame at the same time as the Mini Rose and Mini Sky. These ones are very simlar (same decals, white roof, chrome bumpers) but didn't come with alloy wheels. On my regsitration document the Model/Type is "MINI RACG FLAME CHECKMATE" so I know it is of the first variety I mentioned.

Hope this helps :proud:

Not all Racings/Flames/Checkmates came with alloy wheels. Some came with steels and hubcabs. Although it was a very popular option.

It says MINI RACING FLAME CHECKMATE on the V5 because this is how Rover got around only having to type approve one model instead of 3.
