In my experience, salvagers seem to treat all their cars as though they're destined for the crusher. The ones who got a hold of my car ended up damaging it further.
Or stealing/selling bits off it before its dealt with.

Sad time. Why do we as careful owners have to go through this hassle. The insurance companies just want quick fix and finish.

Because insurance in the UK is already expensive without everyone doing something slightly different than "the system" is set up for.
If you don't insure with specialist brokers, then you can expect this sort of thing.
I had a merc written off about 6 years back - insured with DL, claim over the internet - I saw the car briefly to pick up the RFL and a few bits I had forgotten - a quick phone call and nego with the adjuster, price agreed, job done, cheque in the post.
I had no emotion about the car, but if I had, then that sort of policy would have been no good to me.

Try keep the car as most of the parts are worth a lot , then pretty sure someone will buy the shell of you as a donor car
Yep, another ringer in circulation - it never used to worry me too much before, but unless the car stays whole, then I now think the shell should be destroyed, as sad as it may appear.

If the car is written off by the insurers and I can get it back, would anyone be interested in buying it off of me?
Would make a great project to repair it. The rest of the car is in OK condition. (I'll add some more pics at some point)

Stick some photos up please - if the pre accident condition is OK and the price is right I may be interested to ship it here. All that would matter is that the documents are intact to get it out, we don't need anything to bring it in to Indo.

OK so the car has been classed a write off, but I'm still waiting to hear what their offer is.
Attached is the car pre-accident. I'll get some more pics post-accident next time I see the car. Yes there is some rust on the passenger side door, but is not dangerous and fine for MOT etc.
Milage is about 116000 from memory (I think!). Taxed until Oct/Nov I think, MOT was done a month ago (grrr).
The car is based in Watford and does drive (or it did), but I wouldn't recommend it for a long journey.
Make me an offer and if it's more than the insurance company will charge me to stop it going to the scrap yard it's yours!
It would be nice to prevent another mini being scrapped, the more on the road the better!
I just don't have the ability to repair it
Let me know if you have any questions xxx

PM me please - I (when I live in the UK) live in Radlett - all I'd need for you to do is to drop it off there for me after receiving cleared payment. How does that sound, if we can agree?
