I see it is to late to book camping tickets, will it be okay to turn on the Saturday and still pay for camping?

I managed to book the tickets last year but i was too late this year, obviously :P

Cheers

Why not just give Gaydon a call 01926 645029.

Pretty sure they wont turn people away from the campsite like last year !

Sorry, just seen this.  This show is a one day show but there was camping, but just camping, no food entertainment etc, just a place to pitch your tent.

Loved the show, imo an improvement on lots of regional Mini club stands all with very similar Minis on them, that was the bulk of the old Mini show. Lots of interesting prototypes to look at, the type of vehicles only found at Gaydon.  This is where this show can excel.  I just hope they continue to progress the show and keep on getting the unique and interesting cars out for this show.  A great start for the new show.

Here's the show report from AROnline - http://www.aronline....nd-show-gaydon/ and here's some of my photos from the day - http://www.theminifo...y/#entry2843638

Im not denying the actual day wasnt good, but just justify charging me and my girlfriend £20 each and then £12-14 quid each for the day.

Thats £64 quid to just turn up.

And dont say "should of pre booked"....okay let me go to Santa Pod raceway and not pre book it will be no where near that 60 mark.

I pleased that you enjoyed the day.

I agree, £64 is an awful lot to pay for a night's camping and entry to the show for a day for two people.  I am very happy to raise this with the organsiers and see if we can get a more reasonable price on camping and entry, for those who turn up on the Saturday.

I feel that the Retro Show and the BMC & Leyland Show are very different types of shows which attract different enthusiasts.  However, I guess that the difference with camping at the Retro Show is that they are geared up for it, that's what is expected by many of those attending, whereas camping at the BMC & Leyland Show is not the norm, it's a one day show, so they do not cater for it in the same way.  Still, I can but try to get better prices for those who want to camp next year - the admission prices much better for this year compared to last year's Mini Show for those who turned up on the day, so I think it is possible.  However, please don't expect food or entertainment, although if the show grows, the camping might grow with it in which case, that might be possible.

As one of the organisers of the Cowley Convoy (the first year we have organised a convoy to this show), I can't fault Gaydon.  They gave all those on the convoy reduced entry and parked us at the front of the show.  They really could not have helped us more.  Our ultimate aim is to also organise a convoy from Longbridge too, which will fit very well with the ethos of the show.  I quite fancy a bit of good old Cowley/Longbridge rivalry on who can get more cars in their convoy!  :D

Seeming as the camping is only a field so that's £40 to stay in a field and then go down the road to a local pub for food. It be okay if they had onsite catering for the campers to purchase food but i can understand why they don't as only 5 pre-booked this year for camping so it would be a loss, so which brings me back to the £40 for a nights camp in a field. I could of spent about that for a couple of days camping in places like "haven - pontins etc" (not that i would go there just an example)

I'm ignoring the costs for the actual event because that is understandable. I don't see how they could justify having to pay £20 per person i mean it was £20 per car before.

It should be still £20 a car but if you have more than a certain amount of people in your car then it should be extra

For example...

£20 for two people (a couple) under 16's for free in a car

If there is more than 2 people it should be still £20 for the two but then an extra £5 for each individual.

So 4 people would be £30....

I think you make a valid point which I will raise with Tom Caren the Show Manager when we next meet up.  I will do my best to remember to get back to you with what he says, although he may not control the camping prices, but he's helpful and will do his best to get a solution.  It would be good to get a sensible price for the camping for those who turn up on the Saturday.
