Machine Mart, Ebay, Most tool shops......halfrauds are a waste of time for most things anyway. Only go there if it's a sunday, and everywhere else is shut and you really have nowhere else to go!!!!!

I have a set of halfords tools, actually incredibly good value for money and very good quality. And what's best is keep the receipt and you can return them if they break as they have a lifetime warranty!

Halfords professional range of tools are very highly regarded. Superb quality, good guarantee and a fraction of the price of facom or snap on.

A lot depends on your budget though. For me i buy Snap On but then i also have Halfords professional to abuse at home. Plus with the trade card much cheapness.

I bought a cheap pair of RAC spanners for work (metric though!) and they are great. Haven't slipped and smashed my wrists yet and I use them daily :P.

I've had a Halfords Pro Socket set for 14 years. Never had a problem - it's awesome.

My son has just bought me some imperial spanners from Halfrauds two weeks ago. Yep sounds like you are dealing with goons.

what I do is get a mid range set of sockets and a high end ratchet, its generally the ratchet that packs up.

For spanners go for a combination set and go for a low to mid range, I've yet to brake a spanner, even a cheap one, so no need to go mad on price
