right im just powering everything up, sidelights work, main beam but no dip.
Im not sure if it could be to do with the dim dip system, as im not using it, its not plugged into a resister, no fuse and no relay.

Is this why??? what can i do to over ride the dim dip if this is the reason.

cheers

If the dim-dip system is fitted to the car but the relay is not then there is no connection between the stalk switch and the dipped beam circuit (oddly enough..). You need to make a short jumper wire, about 2 1/2" long with a 6.5mm blade connector on each end and fit it into two trminals on the relay base. The blue/brown wire needs to be jumpered to the blue/red wire. The wire you need to do this must be at least man enough to handle 15 amps. There is also a plug available to delete the dim-dip system if you can find it in a Rover parts place or from a car (usually a Montego) in a scrapyard. It just plugs into the relay base and does the same job.
