Need insurance for the mini, but they seem to be pulling numbers out of the air!

I'm 19, 1 years no claims adding my grandad as as named driver who as 50 odd years no claims!

Got Diamond offering £693.24 for a classic car policy with an agreed valuation (not even classic car specialists as we know), plus £300 handbag cover!
Then tried Carole Nash who just took my details and are probably pawning them to the highest bidder and then Lancaster offering £3976.17! It's crazy how they can vary. The last month when i got quotes they were in the 500's, so I don't see how it can have risen an extra £200 - 3700 in that time!

Anyone of a similar age got any tips? Standard 998cc!

Ring Adrian Flux...also if you join a club like the mini owners club you can get discounts with certain insurances.

TMF counts as a club with lots of insurers, some you need to be a 'member' but TMF+ covers that

One I always forget about, last time I tried them they were one of the higher people to quote me

I always mention I'm part of several owners clubs and whatnot, but the most it has ever decreased is £3!!

Ditto... I've used Adrian Flux for years now....

Admittedly I'm not 19 (or anywhere close ;D ) but they offer really competitive quotes.

Join TMF+ for an extra fiver and save yourself 100s :gimme:

I've been TMF+ for donkeys :P Just a shame that them 100's will never be saved at my age. I realize that as a 19 year old it is never going to be ridiculously cheap, but come onnnnn! You know it's wrong when "specialist" female insurance brokers are offering the best quotes compared to that of actual classic car brokers

Once you get over a certain amount of NCD it doesnt really matter (i think it's either 15, 20 or 30...) e.g 30 years ncd, and 50 years ncd will be the same price theoretically, Under 700 quid is still good to be honest

Some companies its as low as 8 years, most I have come across is 15. I have 23 years in theory but only got 9 years at the moment as my last but one insurer only did 8 years max so that is what they listed on the proof of NCD. Even though I could prove I have more no-one will accept it. Probably makes no difference but annoys me all the same.

Are you sure it's 'agreed value' and not market value, I used to be with Diamond on my other car but left 2months ago because they told me they wouldn't agree a value. Adrian Flux were the only one I could really go for with agreed value, mini as my main car and not being over 25. But my Diamond quote was more expensive that Flux anyway.

Definitely agreed valuation! Same process as Adrian Flux, send photos and details etc
Ended up transferring insurance from one car to another, then going to be put away for a few month due to uni

That must be new within the last month because they wouldn't agree a value on mine, hence leaving. I actually ended up paying about £400 in insurance from cancelling/deposit for changing last month.
