Hi All

The SC MPI management kit can work with the original Rover Alarm/Immobiliser left in place and functioning. We have developed this kit to be as simple to install as we can - our wiring loom plugs in with OE connectors. Obviously if you wish to remove the alarm for any reason our ECU will function without it too.

With regards to our current design stainless LCB's, we fit 2 lambda bosses so that the Rover sensor can be fitted to the upper one without modification. The best place for sampling is from the lower boss in the y piece, but we have found that for MOT tests etc the upper mount is satisfactory.

jamesmpi - I'm surprised to hear about the fitting issues - we have sold literally hundreds of these items. It sounds like you had an earlier item with just the 1 lambda boss, so its a little late to help now, but let us know if you ever have issues again.

I've got  abit of a weird scenario, wanting the 5port kit for my MPi, but i'm going to beusing a pre mpi 1380 block, but with an existing MPi loom, is there any way around this so that I can use the plug / play connectors, but with the carb conversions components? (trigger wheel etc)

Hi Midas Mk1. The loom we offer can only plug into an MPI system - however you could use the flywheel with crank trigger from the MPI. You will need the transfer housing for the sensor location, and to use an MPI coil pack. We don't use the cam sensor so this doesn't matter.

With my SC MPi kit when attempting to use the stock MPi throttle cable with the SC throttle body, the cable is almost pointing straight up as it comes away from the throttle body. This causes a severe angle to the cable when the bonnet is closed. Perhaps this is only an issue with left hand drive cars. Any one else observed this?

I bet being LHD is not helping as it is the same side as the butterfly, correct?

Actually, how does the LHD stock setup works??? My SPi is RHD and the throttle comes from the right and goes across the back of the rocker where it pulls the throttle. The throttle goes from left to right. How does it work on your car? I know the brake is on the right side of the engine bay and there is a bar across the car to operate it correct?

I don't have a photo showing the difference at this time, but here is an image from the manual. The MPi comes off in a horizontal fashion and I do not believe there is any change for RHD/LHD.

Hello
Upon reflection I think my comments were a little unfair on the basis that I didn't contact you about the problem. At the time (and I'm talking 6 or so years ago) I was desperate to get the engine back in so needed to find a fix rather than wait to send it back. I still have the manifold if you wish to inspect it....

Hey I've had my kit on a few years now but does anybody know if you need the original fusebox with the 4 big 30 amp fuses? I've mine connected but just wondering do you run without it

Sorry havnt been on in a few days, well i got to the stage where i was running a full stage 3 set up on the standard rover injection system and it didnt run great and should have had better performance so i went for the sc kit and it has totally transformed it! More power more torque smoother running! Its so easy put in no modifying looms or anything like that but yes sc provide a basic map but mine didnt run with thier base map but once i took it to my tuner he had it running sweet in a matter of hours!

My set up

Stage 3 head
1.5 roller rockers
Sw5 cam
Lightened duplex
Straight cut drops
Rebuilt box
3.4 ratio
4 pin diff

This is very similar set up to me. I have an ITG Filter as well. You refer to this as the SC Throttle body kit but then mention tuning on a rolling road. Does the Throttle body kit contain a new ECU?

What sort of power are you getting from the engine now?

Yes, it comes with the Typhoon ecu which is programmable. I've the same kit waiting to go on my turbo MPi engine.

I have since rebuilt the engine to 1330 I changed to an sw8 cam full straight cut gearbox quaife diff a Med wedged crank and lightened flywheel i got 95bhp and 88 ftp but since that rebuild I've put a race 3 into 1 manifold and a maniflow rcm race exhaust so it might be more probably not though lol

HI Cian,

Bit late to this thread (!), but what kind of 0-60 times do you reckon your set up would achieve? How does it feel off the traffic lights? I am rebuilding my mini and going for a very similar set up to yours, so was hoping it had a good bit of go acceleration wise! Also, what final drive diff ratio did you have?
