Not wrong, is the crazy golf still there? When I went last it was still open and I nearly killed the bloke with an over enthusiastic 'putt'Its a bit of a tip at the momentI loved Rhyl as a kid, went again a couple years back and time hasn't been kind. I hope there will be some investment as its a great beach and easy to get to.

Ok then, here's the AVV IT guide to Wales from North to south.......
Avoid Rhyl & Prestatyn, they are utter toilets in my opinion, kinda like smaller versions of Blackpool, but without all the night life and stag do's. Llandudno is a much more pleasant/ upmarket resort, but there's not really a great deal for you to do there.
If it's an adrenalin rush you seek, then head down to either Langollen, or Bala for some great white water rafting. Langollen has a naturally formed rapids and the speed/thrill of the rafting depends on rainfall/river water levels, whereas Bala is home to the National White Water Center and has rapids fed by a damn controlled river, that gives year round white water! If you do go to Langollen then be sure to take the A542 (Horseshoe Pass) there, as it's a great driving road.
Snowdonia next and even if mountains aren't usually your thing, get yourself a pair of walking boots as there are some great sights there. Snowdon itself is a well trodden tourist route with not all that much to see, so I prefer Glyder Fach, near the summit you'll find the famous "cantilever stone" which provides an unmissable photo opportunity. (see below)
To the North is Tryfan and at the summit are two upright rocks known as "Adam & Eve" that provide another great photo opportunity, particularly if you manage to get pictured in mid air, taking the "leap of faith" between the two! (see below)
Heading out toward the coast, Black Rock Sands near Porthmadog is another beach you can drive on, great fun especially at low tide, although my Missus still hasn't forgiven me for trying to see how deep into the sea I could get her 4x4 to go!
Mid Wales doesn't hold much appeal for me, it's scenic in places, but the English hating locals tend to ruin it for me, so I'd avoid it persoanlly.
To the south you'll find Pembrokeshire which has some of the best surfing beaches in the UK, (namely Newgale and Whitesands). If you can't surf, then you seriously need to learn, aside from being an exceptionally cool pass time, it's the most fun you can have with your clothes on (or off as the case may be!) There are a few surf schools in the area that provide group lessons with equipment included, so it's a perfect activity for a group of mates. Toombstoning however, is hugely dangerous and I would never condone such an utterly irresponsible activity! Tt's an awesome rush though and if you're stupid enough to partake, then Abbereiddi is the place to do it. It's a disused quarry that has become flooded by the sea to form a very deep pool known locally as "the blue lagoon", toombstoners jump from the 8m and 15m quarry walls surrounding the lagoon. (see below) The 15m wall at the back (known as "the big one") is only for hardcore nutters though, mainly as it's far too easy to slip on the wet slate at the top and fall sideways to your death onto the lower wall below! (Back in nineties, when I was young and stupid I jumped off it quite a few times, these days I'm just stupid though, so I only jump off the 8m wall.......mostly! )
There's not much night life in Pembrokeshire though, so it's best to best just to sit around a campfire and get drunk in the evenings, although many local pubs around St. Davids do have regular bbq's and pig roasts over the summer months, tourists tend to be welcome at these, so long as you don't try it on with the locals daughters!
If nightlife is what you seek, then head to Cardiff, it has a big student population due to it's two universities, so had a good selection of pubs and clubs. If you visit then don't forget to sneak in a trip to Barry Island either, it's another seaside resort toilet like Rhyll or Prestatyn, but you need to experience it as many of us oldies had to endure its holiday hellishness in our childhood!
Hope that's useful, I'm now off to apply for a job with the Welsh Tourist Board!

Spent Wednesday-Saturday in Oswestry last week at a Premier Inn to go white water rafting in Llangollen. Was bloody brilliant! Really recommend that! Cost me £50 at buyagift.co.uk.
Went to Wrexham a lot for the cinema and food. Oswestry is a bit boring (although not strictly in Wales, it's very close).

North Pembrokeshire is fab. Pentre Ifan:
Newport (the one near Fishguard)
Cwm Gwaun:
Cregennan (Meirionyddshire - Snowdownia):
Llwyngwryl, Barmouth, Fairbourne (Harlech & its castle is just round the corner)
Ooooh, and Betws-y-Coed and Capel Curig - roads round there were also built for minis.
Bloody love Wales, me. North & South.

I had a week camping around north west Wales the other week and I went in the mini. The roads are brilliant, I drove from Anglesey home (just outside Wrexham) down the A5 then over to Ruthin and Mold, was a great drive in the sunshine.
There are so many beautiful places in Wales it just depends on what you want to do.
