best engine and kinda cheep to buy

what would the best engine to get and kinda cheep about £1,000. like out of other cars that are good to put into a mini.

If that's the budget for the conversion.... try a metro :errr:

If you're thinking of 16v, then probably the cheapest would be a K series, not sure how much the subframe would cost tho..

BUT a grand would get you a fairly decent spec a series engine

no, a grand would get you an old 1275 with a few tuning bits and a setup afterwards.

Looking at it realistically your going to be putting a lot of work in yourself if your budget is a grand - or is this just for the engine?

I have to agree with GW, metro 16v has to be one of the lightest and easiest/cheapest conversions to do. Probably just betered by the vauxhall 8v conversion which is similarly cheap conversion to do, if not a little more involved.

i have to disagree, a grand will get you a decent spec 1380 from morspeed. not including gearbox but if there is already a useable one in the mini (or see a certain GW's sig) then that could be used plus carb etc.

for 650 you can get a built short engine. obviously head etc and carbs may need to be added but he may already have these.

I might well get shot down in flames for saying that!!
