Put an ON - ON switch in the boot, power from tail light feed, one output to tail lights, one to your amp, and an ON - OFF switch in the dash somewhere to turn ON - OFF the side lights

What? Sorry, run that by me again please. I dont quite understand what you are trying to do here??????

so that is two switches and one is in the dash.

Now i know it was a long time since i went to school and i may be over 800 years old, but even i can see it would be easier to run a single bit of wire from the fuse box to the amp.

A simple answer to a simple question was achieved in the first two posts. and how long does it take to run a single wire about 7 feet through a car?

I reckon you have shares in a switch manufacturing company LOL

The ON - ON switch is in the boot, and that chooses whether you have music, or lights, then to stop the front lights coming on when you just want to listen to music, you have a simple ON - OFF in the dash

So the procedure for listening to music
-turn off switch on dash
-put switch in boot to 'music'
-turn on light switch to sidelights

Also, where do you propose running the wire, because it would be difficult to run it along side the other wires going to the back, and where would you run it through the car if you have a nice interior etc

Or, you could wire yourself up a simple circuit that people use to make homemade latching alarms, the brake pedal can be the trigger, and then you could have an ON - OFF switch in the boot to turn the amp off again, or or you can buy remote switches off ebay for around £6 ($9), and you get a remote like a modern car unlocking/locking fob, with 2 buttons on it, and you can use it as an on off switch
