Theoretically if I was to do this would starting with a metro turbo engine be a good starting point to then try and add the super?

You would probably need a lot of engine work doing anyway, so I can't see it making much difference if it was a turbo engine originally or not.
Plus metro turbos are expensive

I'm not sure that has a turbocharger on it too.....as an aside it sounds like  a Hoover Junior....bet it beats as it sweeps as it cleans.....

Compound charging is very much worth while. Im currently doing it on an Audi B5 RS4 engine using an Eaton M62 and a Holset HX52. On a 2.7 v6 a turbo of this size would be awfully peaky and offer next to no usable powerband. However adding a blower completly changes this. There is alot of intercooling/chargrcooling but it is all easily manageable.
On a mini it could possibly put less strain on the gearbox but the extra torque could also put more into it. In my opinion it would only be worth it on A seires cars running over 170 odd brake with laggy turbos.

It certainly has, you can see the Inlet pipe to the right of the bulkhead, i remember seeing it on ebay also. i dont know how good it was/is.

It is, but it begs the question . . . Why?

Erm..... For more power maybe?

I can see lots of pipes....but nothing that looks like a turbo......is this supposed to be super blow through turbo or are they parallel ?

Give me a time slot to look for this turbo......and the intercooler.

It can be done and if it was done properly with lots of money thrown into it, it would be very effective. But it would be extremely tricky to get the boosts right. The VW twin charged engine is great but that has ECUs and electronics to actually cut out the supercharger before the turbo kicks in and it's all very complicated.

To be honest, as others have said, on an A Series it's not worth it.

the pipe on the top right is the outlet from the turbo, i think the larger pipe will be the air inlet to the turbo.

you can look at the build thread here.

Thanks, I can see now what they have done - this is a parallel installation though with the turbo and the supercharger blowing into a common collector - I wonder how on earth that is going to work unless the turbo and the supercharger have identical charcteristics.

First rule of fan dynamics - you can't mix blower types in parallel on a common header - you can mix them in series though there is no telling what you may end up with.
