i have been offerard a Astra GTE digital dash desply for my mini at £25.00. (need to talk abou that price)
it has no loom but im very instred in what i would need to install this into my mini van.
what else will i need.?
i think i will need the ECU for it but if i was to get this too how does the engine give the speed to it as its cable from off the gearbox.
so does anyone have any idea or hints on what i will need and how to do this mad mod?
thanks

hiya mate, basicaly i was planning on installing one at some point, if you have just the digital display i found a company in swansea who make up the electronic components and connections, I emailed them and they said it was £90 plus p+p. I think this was for everything i needed although I did not check because i went off the idea. They can look really good though. Sounded like really nice guys when I phoned too. The company was speedycables.co.uk.
Hope that helps.

Yeah, you need the speed transducer, and ive see them, by themselves, go for about £25 (can vary), as others who bought the gauges realised they hadn't got it with theirs.
I think the rest should be nornal wiring.
Theres also someone on eBay that sell a modified version of the dash so it has blue lights, which looks quite nice.

he says (only part of the auction description)
This auction includes everything you need for the conversion - you get the dash, loom [with black & white plugs attached] and the all important gearbox transducer.
People ask me if these can be installed in MK3 Astras, Novas, Corsas, even minis - The fact is they can physically, with a little persuasion - I'm sure they could be installed to a host of other applications too, given a little wiring knowledge too. The sky's the limit!

thats really good...
what sort of price are the dials going for is £25.00 abit too much for something with no conectors?
stickycreambun
for £90.00 plus Pand P do you get the dash display as well? or is it just the loom and sensors etc?
really fancy doing this now......

Of course there's a downside to Astras!
I guess that the Astras they are out of are now 20-odd years old and being written off at regular intervals from failing MOTs etc. I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with the dash unit.

the only problem i can see if that the speedo will need a fair amount of tweaking to get correct?

Well when I was looking into it the guys at speedycables gave me the impression that you sent them the actual dash itself (£40ish on ebay with loom) then they modified bits somehow to allow you to connect it to your speedo and tacho. and then you'd need to sort the other gauges out yourself eg. oil temp sensor. But now I cant find the email reply they sent me.

25 for just the Dials aint bad, but the guy who sells the blue ones sells the loom and bits as well for £50 ish and £8.50 p+p. I think he used to do a BIN, but only has the one on auction at the mo, im sure if you emailed him (or her) they would sell you a set.

is there a down side to them?
IIRC they are pretty hard to see in strong sunlight.
