someone on ebay selling anoth sys this.....
"STRIPPED LAST YEAR WAS GOING TO FIT THEM INTO MINI BUT THE SPEEDO WILL NOT RUN TRUE DUE TO SIZE OF WHEELS"
would this be the case on 12" wheels? Would this be a mare to get right? I was really interested in doing this mod till i read that.

Just spotted this thread, ive had an astra dash in my clubman for about 18 months now v.happy with it. Best if you can get transducer for the specific dash as i think there was two types produced each with different number of pulses per rev, also get the plugs for the back of the dash if pos.(chop them off the astra loom) as i dont think u can buy them! . As for calibration I run 13" wheels and had to make a reducing gearbox to go between the transducer, the black piece, and speedo drive,(see photo) it uses small gears from R/C cars to get the speed right , i used a TomTom to check it, I have the pin outs for the dash somewhere will have a look, the other gauges read correctly as i have a vauxhall engine in it, the fuel gauge even works with a mini sender.

Hope that helps

that helps me out loads.
i will be running 13s on it.
but unsure on how you gt the speedo correct tho... sounds good but cant work out what you done lol

i am aware there are two types. doesnt one drop off with the revs top end and the other dont? also is there just two types of transducers? and what would one look like
i have also today found someone who maybe scraping his GTE so i may be able to get the hole loom... if so can any of this be re used?
still abit unsure of exactly what i will need.
could someone if possible just post like a shoping list?
thanks

You will need
- Dash itself
- black multipin plug on back of dash with as much wire from the loom as pos.
- white multipin plug on back of dash as above
- the transducer and its 3 pin plug again with as much wire as pos.
The transducer (the black piece in my previous post) will unscrew from the vauxhall speedo drive, get as much wire as possible as it will make it easier to splice it into the mini loom
I am not sure if the thread on the transducer is the same as a mini speedo drive, you will have to try it! The transducer has a square drive pin like a mini speedo cable so may fit .
As i am running a vauxhall gearbox i dont know if the speed will read anywhere near right with an A series gearbox and speedo drive, give it a try and see, you may need to make a reducing gearbox to go between the mini speedo drive and the transducer or change the speedo drive pinion in the gearbox itself.
I did have a go at electronically reducing the signal from the transducer, but the pulsewidths vary greatly at different speeds, so i went for the simple mechnical option
If you can see the dash lit up before you buy it all the better as the 2 lamps that back light it are v.expensive.
have a look on the net for the wiring diagram/ what each wire on the dash does. let me know if you cant find anything and i will send you a copy of mine.
Good luck
