This is an FYI for an older thread from June 2012, which really was a great help in getting my "usually reliable" 1992 SPI mini started on a consistent basis again. It would usually start cold allright, but if I went to a store and turned it off, it wouldn't start again. And the fuel pump would not click on as it normally does. This left me stranded on more than one occasion. One of the suggestions given on that older thread mentioned cleaning the fuse and the fuse box contacts, so I pulled the fuse out. It was really "crusty" looking, but still a good fuse. After cleaning the legs really well with a wire brush, I used a small file to clean the contacts. I've driven it now for over two months with no problems. Since this was an easy repair, I would suggest it as one of the first things to check if you're having a similar problem.
