When the fuse box is all dirty and cruddy it can cause all sorts of problems, a new box is the best way to cure it but cleaning it up can work too.

As for a supplier, doesn't really matter as long as they'll sell you a proper Lucas fuse box. Just make sure someone isn't trying to rip you off with a nasty ceramic fuse version!

I can't see any way that this can affect the dip or main headlamps though. All the sidelights yes and the fogs, spots and everything else including possibly the dipped beam if you have the dim dip system in the car but not the main beam, nothing should affect them.
