Who in your opinion is the best/fairest agreed payout insurer out there?

Mines due on the 14/9

Iv seen a few negative posts about FJ and lancaster so might give them a swerve.

Now I dont want this to turn into a discussion between members, just a heads up whos good.

Cheers

I'm also with Peter James, having left Footman behind earlier in the year. Again I've never made a claim, but have been very impressed with their customer service and by how thorough they are with their agreed valuation, and modified vehicle deceleration processes.

Really, that's odd mine are 19 years and 27 years old and both are modified! Maybe you should give them a ring to check?

Think i will mate. :shifty:

did you have to send pics off etc, if not how did they come to an agreed payout figure?

I'm with AA atm, and i stated last year my mpi was worth £5k (same this year) and for full comp its £200..nice

Now this is where im a bit dim, altho i stated its worth £5k, does this mean in a total loss, i revieve that or just the "book" price.

Hope that makes sence

Thats not an agreed value, you can tell them what you want when the policy is taken out but if they don't agree the value (with a certificate) then its useless

You complete a written deceleration, listing the condition of the car and any mods/restoration work done. You then take this to a classic car garage/ restorer/ dealership, or owners club etc, for them to verify the condition and value of the car. You then send the completed form back to them, along with a selection of photos of the car taken from various angles. They then write back to you advising if the value has either been agreed, or rejected.

Sorry to jack this thread a little but it seemed pointless making another topic on basically the same issue. I'm going to be taking out insurance in a couple of weeks, but after spending nearly 2 grand on what is now a Cat C car, an agreed value is looking a like wishful thinking. Am I right in saying that regardless of the quality of my rebuild, insurers are going to be glued to the fact it's been written off and offer me a **** value?

Talk to a few, it depends on the insurers as to their policy and they are all different. However I doubt any will value it as high as one that isn't a cat C.

As AVV IT has said i took pictures of the car on all sides and the interior as part of the declaration. Also i declared the brake modification as well (drums to Cooper S disc system) with no issues. Peter James were fine with that.

Saying that my car is over 38 years young.

Just wanted to know any mods & restoration work, pics of each side, front, rear, interior & engine bay :D
