Think these are pretty much the same but there in a different layout:

http://www.minormani...mdu/aseries.htm

Now the above states iirc, that you have to use standard non-oversized imp pistons to ue them in an A-series small bore blocke before you go through water/oil ways but this guy: http://www.turbomini...p=vt&tid=458614

thinks you can go +40 before going through ? confusing haha

Might read up on porting and a few small mods and give it ago, aslong as i know im not ruining the engine i'l try it

So with standard Imp pistons it goes out to 1220 cc (or 2014 cc). I did remember about offset boring, but I thought that was to enable the gasket to work and not get burned away by the small gap between 2 & 3.

I'm guessing that around 70 bhp with good mid-range torque would be easily possible with, say, a 266 or 276 cam.

What an interesting engine that would be to build. Lightweight flywheel, 'S' clutch, duplex timing gears and a standard gearbox with a 3.44:1 FDR. If balanced, lightened and fitted with a centre main strap I reckon around 6400 rpm might be safe, so good acceleration and a fair cruising speed of around 75 mph. Probable max speed around 95+ mph. Twin HS4 carbs would work well. It would go sort-of like a 1071 Cooper 'S'.

Hi looking at your pics I have the same engine which is a 1098 with a 202 head except my pistons read M2007 E17 mine also have a B stamped in them where as yours have an A, from what I have read its the last of the 1098 which were A+ with a pretty verto clutch. My engine number starts the same as your 10H791AA. Hope this helps
Thanks
Fred

Ahh thanks Fred!,

So there are A+ engines with pre-verto clutches from standard ? wonder why they did that, surely A+ was a denotion for the new verto clutch  weird as ought haha

Still baffled at the piston numbers and meaning but glad to hear someones in the same boat :P :D

Cheers,

Cliff

Well I think so, we have 1 each so surely that's not just a coincidence with the clutches, yeah I am a little to when I checked my piston numbers it lists lots of morris minor stuff
