Hi All,

Just after some friendly advice / comments.

I bought a BMC head on ebay that was advertised on here on 14th August and paid via PayPal. The transaction showed in my bank on 19th.

The auction said 12-14 days delivery, I took this to be the outside eta and taking into account dispatch times (but i now know the parcel was collected so not excues re getting to post office).

Here we are on 30th, 16 days later and i dont have the head. the tracking info says it has been out for delivery since 24th.

Seller doesn't seem interested on here or eBay. I paid £12 for P&P which I thought was about right for a 3 day delivery by Hermes based on Parcel2Go prices (£5.75 + Insurance + VAT - but i dont know if it is insured). As a comparison Yodel next day was £7.75 + Insurance + VAT.

What do people think - as a trader on here i send by the fastest/value method, seems this trader has skimmed profit on the postage, taken a week to send it and now im left £200 out of pocket and no head.

Expected better of a fellow trader on here to be honest.

What do people think?

Have you tried contacting the courier? Being out for delivery for 6 days is strange. That normally means its on the van for delivery that day.

Its via Hermes - so just some bloke in a car round here, plus they will only speak to the sender.

I avoid Hermes as they are so poor but seems traders use them as its cheap and can make extra on delivery. The above shows that it took the guy a week to have it collected!

Although this appears to be the fault of the courier it is for the seller to sort out!

Thats not great, but i think the seller would have been within the two weeks if they had delivered in a sensible amount of time. But if you feel there is a problem then ebay have a very good system in place to protect buyers. If anything it is too biased towards buyers.

The lack of communication from the seller is poor.

Its difficult as it is a fellow trader on here, but i cant leave good feedback as the delivery process has been total cack.

It stated 12-14 days on the listing - so i may open a dispute. Depends if the trader on here replies to my message. Last time he just sent the tracking info again!

Keep trying. A dispute will get things moving but always leaves a bad taste. Better to sort ot between yourselves if you can.

I've used hermes and had no problems, and had Sellers send things with them and again no problems.
It is the couriers fault but the seller should be the one tracing it. If the seller won't sort it out, open a case and then is up to the seller to claim the money back from the courier.

I have received things via Hermes before, all be it very slow but they got here.

Beginning to think a payapl dispute is the only way to go!

Have you definitely always been in, as I sold something on eBay, posted via my Hermes, few days went by I had several messages from the guy saying it hadn't turned up he got a bit nasty, the more I looked into it, it turned out that they had made several attempts to deliver but no one was ever in, however this showed up on the tracking, which yours does not unless the driver hasn't updated it when he's tried knocking

I hate Hermes with a passion! I posted a land rover exhaust manifold with them. The delivery driver put said item in the buyers safe place and put a card through the door.

The safe place?

THE WHEELY BIN OUTSIDE on bin day!!!

The tracking info clearly says that the seller booked the item in for collection on the 16/08/2013 and the item was collected from the seller on 21/08/2013, so the seller has done his bit as promised, you can't be mad at the seller for this.

It's Hermes you need to contact, or if you can't contact them directly ask the seller to look into it for you.

He's said above, Hermes wont talk to him, they'll only talk to the seller, and the seller just replies to messages with the tracking number

It has been booked to be delivered to my work address where someone is there 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

to be honest if he booked the collection why did it take 3 working days? Whenever i book collections it is for the next day. Agreed 16th was a Friday but i bought it on the Wednesday!

I can be peeved that he has charged good money for delivery and has opted for the cheapest (poorest) service.
