He guys and gals.. I'm hoping somebody can give me advice.

Had a few letters and emails off adrian Flux recently. the other day I recieved one stating my insurance had been cancelled. I rang up and the bloke went ''that's right''. Even though money has been there for them to take (need to check if it's gone out) they're apparently taking out of my account a £340 cancelation fee, plus £370 of payments, plus £20 a week late payment... THATS £870!!!!

Apparently the bailifs are going to be knocking at my door if I don't pay up  O_O

where the hell do I stand? I set up a direct debit for a reason..  So that the money was taken from my account automatically each month. Infact I'm fairly certain it has been taken out of my account!

Adrian flux are refusing to talk to me, unless I take out a new policy with them  :ohno:

I'd speak to the insurance ombudsman ASAP, they will give you the best, and free, advice available.

I'll have to make some phone calls tomorrow I think

What pisses me off the most, is that I've been uninsured for the last month without knowing, because they've taken this long to get in touch!!  I've driven 2000 miles in that space of time, and also been pulled over by police for no insurance too....    Obviously i showed my documents and it was late at night, so he couldn't phone up, and he gave me the benefit of the doubt and sent me on my way (with a verbal warning about my wide wheels and noisy exhaust  :proud: )

Can you get proof of the direct debit from your bank?

get bank statements as proof if you have paid it and make sure that they are well aware they messed up if that's the case as if not  you'd have to declare you've had insurance cancelled on a future policy.

I belive they would have to notify you before cancelling a policy which if they'd already had the money seems like for no reason. Make sure you don't give them any extra fees that if the mistakes are theirs

my GF had somthing simler...im pretty sure they have to give you in writing of cancellation and a certan time ie 14 days notice before they do.

Print off your statments and send them a copy that payments had been made.

And people wonder why I advise against having any dealings with Flux.

This is not an isolated incident with them. Involve the Ombudsman - when Flux tried to steal money from me I did and they rapidly backed down and gave me back the money they had taken. That was the second time they had tried it on (I put the first down to a mistake and gave them a second chance - more fool me). I know MANY people with similar problems with them. Lord knows how they are still trading.

It is an offence to cause someone to drive without insurance.

This is what they have in effect done!

14 day letters for cancellation are not compulsory for the majority of Insurers. You have to give 7 days notice of a cancellation though.

cancalled for "not sending a photo copy of the back of the card license!!!"
cancellation sent by letter that never arrived (if sent) so car was driven for 2 months.
got a full refund after a 2 hour phone call
