I bought this car 5.1/2 years ago as a non runner with 6 months MOT. A gallon of clean fuel, some easy start, and £200 later i drove it home. It needed some welding for is first MOT with me, which I paid a garage to do. Since then it has had very little done to it, some dodgy paint, and a rear subframe when it rusted through.

A few months ago, I moved house to somewhere with a driveway. Much more secure, so worth tidying up the car. Problem is, there is a 12" high metal fence I have to drive through to get to the driveway. One day in the snow a few months back, I slid downhill into it and touched the arch cover. This pulled out a huge chunk of filler I didnt know was there.......

So, a tub of filler and a dodgy brush paintjob later, I have discovered 3 more areas of filler too. I have booked a week off work, starting the day after Stamford Hall in 2 weeks. I have made a list of bits I want, including inner sills, door step panels, boot floor, rear quarters, rear valance, front screen, doors, all window rubbers................In true Time Team fashion, I have just 7 days to do it. Its my daily driver!

I kinda have no choice. I will do one job at a time, starting with the most important. Structure first. Then mechanicals, then pretty things. Like paint and the new blue rocker cover.

It can be done!

Take a look at this one. Ignore the date of the thread, it was posted after the job when we had some time . this project was started 8 days before my sons 17th birthday and was MOT,d the day before he was 17!

Mind you, there were three of us working on it.

Good luck, I am sure you can do it.

Well, I borrowed a welder from a very helpful guy from here (charie t is a great guy!) and picked it up today. And a big parcel turned up with my new 13x10 foot gazebo to work under! Just need some wire and gas, then to practice welding on the weekend.

Best way to learn welding is having a time limit LOL

Oh, and plenty of spare steel to play with.

Well, after a mare of a job getting the wire to feed correctly in the welder, I had a play today on some scrap. With a few adjustments to gas flow rates and power, I managed to get an adequate seam across some clean steel, and butt weld some bits at 90 degrees with good strength. No holes blown through the steel either! It doesn't look pretty yet, so gonna have another go or 3 this week before Stanford Hall this weekend! Tomorrow I pick up some more panels from club mates. Just need doorstep panels now! And shiny things.....

Right then; it starts! Got most of the rest of the bits today at Stanford Hall. Got home, got MASSIVELY rained on, but stripped the interior completely. Pictures of what I found to follow.
