Just bought a new project for the lads at work to get their teeth into. Its a one owner P reg five door metro. Its done 37000 miles and was written off (cat D) because the owner cracked the bumper and it would have cost more to repair than it was deemed to be worth. Got this for the princely sum of £200. The only thing i know we need is a manifold and exhaust as the garage nicked it for one of their mates cars. anyone got one lying around in a shed? Should be getting it the back end of next week so will get some pics up.

So do we keep it standard and have a play at the general servicing type jobs, or turn it into a super cheap track day car?

I have a manifold and downpipe to backbox which you can have for free, Chance on the forum has dibs on the backbox though

Although if it interests you I have a sportex system from cat back, £80 posted :D

Well there we go :D

It's been on the car for a couple of hours max. It isn't at all quiet but it isn't massively loud :P I've decided I'd rather put my money into ICE than engine noise now and hence it's up for sale.

If interests you let me know :D

£70 delivered by Carlos ;)

Cheers guys! Thanks Craig I would love to take you up on the offer of the manifold, and thanks Sam, if I can sort a way of getting it that would be great. And thanks Carlos for the offer of bringing Craig's bits up when you come up. I will have to hang fire on the sportex exhaust as I have exhausted ;-) our funds at the moment, but I am waiting on some sponsorship money coming in so may be able to do it in a week or two.

Ah I saw this! Sooo cheap for what it is, doesn't need a lot doing for a nice little car. It's been on there for quite a while.

If you get rid of the seats/door cards then let me know since they're the same as a GSI and I'd like some spares :-)

I'll sort out the exhaust, I just remember I have a backbox/midbox from a GTA or something so I think I have pretty much a full system you can have. I can't remember exactly what is missing but there may be one part, either way you can pick up most parts of the Metro exhaust system for under £30 so it'll save you a bit :-)

I love the K series engine, it has an undeserved reputation for problems and is a great engine. My wife used to have a rio in metallic green that was great to drive and you could fit loads in. This one will be used for teaching kids with disabilities to learn to do basic maintenance and hopefully get them learning to drive (we also have a mini project but that is a bit more long term).

I have no problem with the k series either, i just think the earlier metros look better than the rover metro/100.

You dont get much for £200 these days so it looks like a good buy
