Hiya guys ill be at castle combe on the 28th and fancy taking the mini around the track. Ild like to record it via a dash cam. Ive looked on ebay and you can buy then for 20 quid upwards, has anyone tried these before??? If not what ones do you guys have ????

If you can justify the expense, a goPro really is the king of cameras for pretty much every application. There are a whole bunch of OEM and aftermarket mounts available so you can plant them on the roof, on your mirrors etc. They're indestructible to boot (I've had them fall off RC planes from 50 foot and survive).

GoPros are most defiantly worth it. All of these videos are filmed with one. http://www.youtube.c...er/spedeworthtv

No need to spend £300 on one, if your on a budget look at second-hand Go Pro 2 HDs. Will still be a hundred times better than your eBay 20 quid jobby.

I've recently just sold my GoPro, the video is top notch but the audio is woeful. You definitely need a standalone mic if you want audio. A shame really, at the price they charge for the GoPro's you'd expect the complete package really.

This I can agree with, the standard "waterproof" case on the goPro is a sealed unit and the audio will sound like you're underwater. But they do sell cases which still offer protection without ruining the audio

I think everyone has already answered your question but I have to agree with the GoPro option. I own one and use it a lot. I have even used it as a dash cam but the angles you can get with them are brill.

Downside is the audio but if you are really in the need of good audio, get a mic and mount it inside the car, otherwise you will just get wind noise. The good thing about the built in mic though is you hardly get any wind noise.

I've made a few videos with mine at www.youtube.com/flameredfilms

My friend has a gopro camera and we mounted it on the dash in my car with the mount that came with the camera, just a sticky pad that seems as if it will never come off my dash! You really cant fault the quality of the camera either as my friend using it for his 'free running/parkour' videos so you know it can take quite a lot when he's doing flips and all sorts  >_<

I had the HD1 as well :P I had the standard case, i tried it with the sealed back and the vented one. Outside of the car the road and wind noise basically drowned out everything, inside it was better obviously but I still didn't think it was anywhere near satisfactory for the price I payed for it which was substantial at the time. Any movement at all in the GoPro was picked up as well, so there was always plenty of knocking noises to go with my road noise haha.

Aha, was just a friend seems to get sound issues with his HD2, it's not down to wind noise, it's like interference

so, did you get lots of wind noise with the full case on outside of the car, Mate? I've not tried mine outside but wanted another so I could fit my HD1 in the rear bumper.

the  movement that was all picked up is Shirley a positive point of it being solidly mounted :D sort out those knocks on yer Mini!! :P

A friend went to Florida recently & Walmart had HD3 Silver for £140, unfortunately he wasn't staying near any but they'd popped into one & he WhatsApp'd me the prices, more unfortunately I didn't get the msg until they had left  I could have got 2 for the the price of 1 here & ran them both off my phone in sync. :D /
