failed MOT on this, anyone know how to fix this?

I suspect it's an earthing issue!

 

You could clean up all the connections and add an earth for each light cluster!

crikey that was quick, I thought so, just wanted to check! 

 

The wiring is poor to say the least!

 

If there was an earth for each cluster originally it would take less wire, but take more fitting!

 

I'm having a loom custom built with additional earths and less joints

That is indeed the correct fix, as I have said a few times. Actually, probably so many times that a few people have died of severe boredom.....

 

I just hate electrical things that have not been designed correctly, and the Mini wiring is in that category, although certain French vehicles were much worse. And, I don't like the earths at the front, which can be responsible for both headlights failing suddenly. On a dark night, that can kill.
