Fitted a new set of clocks today, albeit without the cover but the illumination isn't working, nor the left indicator for some reason, even after checking my bulbs! Anyway rather than taking it out I improvised and I quite like it..adds to the "classic" look   ;D

next to my clocks I have what I call 'the key'. It translates the readout of the speedo into actual miles per hour.

Check the inline fuses behind the carb/air filter as the instrument pack illumination is protected by one of these.

Actually, from memory I think the instrument pack shares it's fuse with the tail/side lights, so if they're OK, then it's probably not a blown fuse, still worth a look though.

Odd thing is IVVIT that the indicators work as well as all the dials - it's just the backlights!

Have you checked the PCB on the back of the clocks?

I had this ages ago and it drove me mad, I eventually found it to be a break at the top of the PCB between the fuel/temp gauge and the tacho. God knows why they didn't make a solid mounting there! I soldered some wire across the broken part and didn't have a problem again.

Yep A lot of older packs need the "printed circuit" breaks bridged by the solder a wire in method. I reinforce the solder joint with araldite 2 part epoxy.
One of mine has 2 panel light bulb holders reconnected this way.

The lack of solid is because the 2 pack instrument was common to both and the 3 pack just added the rev counter to the side, making the printed circuit a bit flimsy on the join!
