I would like to fit a Smiths temp gauge to my mini 850 (centre speedo, no existing temp/oil gauges), just for peace of mind really. Since as far as I can tell there is no thread in the head for the sender, is my best/easiest bet to try and source a thermostat housing with a thread cut in it?

I did this with one of my old mini's, just curious if this is the preferred way to go?...

putting a temp sensor in the thermo housing will measure temp after the thermostat. One in the sandwich plate under the thermo housing will measure head water temp, which is what you want.

Ah thank you...not having a thread cut in the head makes this a bit of a pain in the arse tho. Maybe I won't bother afterall

Edit: my mistake...it does have the thread afterall (doh), so should be easy enough
