Right well back when i was in college I met this guy who had a mk2 escort sat at a farm. He said he was gonna do it up. he made a start but never got very far. Anyway, he now has a kid and I think he realised hes not gonna get it done. So I got a random message on facebook the other night asking if I was still interested. I said yea went to have a look and put a deposit down there and then. I got it for a price that I really could not say no too.

Any enough boring chat. Pics time!

Anyway thats about it for now. Dunno what the plan are yet. Would just like to stick big engine in it and use it for some track days but we shall see what happens.

Thats it for now! Thanks.

I was thinking of a pinto. Not really planning on mexico'ing it up. If anything I would just replace and repair the bits that need doing and rattle can it.

Like I side I dont really have any plans as I was not planning on buying it. But I could not say no at the price i paid hehe.

Nah get a 2lt Zetec and type 9 box. Pinto is nice dont get me wrong as i have loads of them but for cheap power out of the box a Zetec is the way fwd. Drop it down with some banded steelies as this look tends to suit the more door. Either keep it looking ratty or go for a decent paint job.

That l/h rear arch looks iffy, just wondering if they have welded the new one over the old rusty one.

to be honest i am gonna do is have a good look over the car. Have a read on the forums. See what engines can go in with not too much work and which one will be the most reliable as I would quite like to have this as a daily and then maybe sell the clubby. I'll still have my other mini I'm building at the moment as a toy, This as a daily and then I just need to find a commer camper so weekends away and I think that will be an epic 3 car garage.

But like I said not gonna get ahead of myself here. I'll wait till its picked up and let my step dad have a look over it and see what he thinks. He knows about things like this!

If you go zetec, then I'd go for the 2.3 variant, so much more power than a 2 and super reliable out of the box. Fit megasquirt and a set of Jenvies and it'd be a pukka daily

All of the engines mentioned will drop in but for ease then the crossflow will be the best as that is what should be already fitted.

A 1600 711M engine bored out to 1700, with some head work and a decent cam on twin 40's will get you 120+ bhp all day long. Decent electronic dizzy that's been recurved for the engine will make for a sweet reliable daily.

The 2 lt pinto will give you 96 bhp as standard. Decent four branch manifold and exhaust, k&N air filter and a rejetted 32/36 DGAV Weber and a Piper Magnum 270/2 cam should see you into the 120+ bhp range.

Go to 2.1 with a fully lightened and balanced bottom end with a decent head, a 285/2 cam or similar running twin 45's will see you north of 150 bhp. I had that in my RS as a daily and it was noisy but fun along with a Type 9 5 speed gearbox for more relaxed motorway driving.

The Zetec is very popular and is easy to tune plus it's a 16 valver. Needs a little work to fit but its been done so many times now its straight forward.

The problem with starting to modify the crossflow, when you try and get them reliable yet have the power of a pinto, you start spending big bucks.

We shall see. Im gonna have a chat with Lee and get him to have a look over it. I trust him with things like this and knows what hes on about. Nothing he has ever helped me with has failed yet so I'll listen to what he has to say on it and go with that.

Don't drop a Pinto P.O.S in it..

How rude, just remember the Cossie bottom end was Pinto sourced ableit with steel bits and now Burton do a ali block so its still going strong and hitting big numbers now. Don't discount it as as a boat anchor because its still going well.

Harris Pinto's rock big stylee. ;D  ;D
