What are people's views I've heard some claim up to a 30% reduction and as we all most properly keeping an a series cool is important, but also keeping the intake temptature down (engine bay temp) could see an increase in power, if not at least when it is hot no reduction anyway ?

It's £250 to get it done, I'm tempted but not sure if I can keep temperatures down and power up high I will e happy I've spent enough anyway so an extra 250 won't hurt ....... Will it ;-)

Opinions please !

Seems/is a lot of money for such a small ammount of gain, you won't be gaining much atall from it to be honest, yes colder air is more compressed and alows more oxygen into the engine per stroke but the ammount of gain isn't worth 250 quid, surely ? O_O

Someone once posted a calculation of how much per hp you have to spend on the A-series, it was high to be honest so if you,ve got it flaunt it ;) but make sure you buy whatever else you can that might bring the power up more so for £250 first :)

Could always wrap it in tin foil ?

This isn't regulated, just a road toy ! I can pm u spec but power output figures should be about 80+hp possible

Nah want to keep it n/a first time round, then maybe build a 1293 turbo in the future, seriously I don't think I could do much more to the engine its going to be aggressive enough just want the reliable power

It's one of the best mods we do to our Caterhams. We have a bespoke exhaust system made that comes out of the bonnet ad down the side of te car. Pre ceramic coating you can't touch it for a good half hour, a bad thing if changing engines in a hurry...

With the ceramic coating we noticed a rise in horseys and torque, and you could hold the manifold after about 5 mins!!! Much much less radial heat aswell!!:P

So I would see a rise in both hp and torque figures ?

Why not just buy a roll of the exhaust wrap ? It's about £30 a roll & will do much the same job.

Phil.

I'd definitely go for ceramic dipping on an exhaust manifold as I coats inside and outside of the manifold to protects the steel inside.

If I had to chose between an external ceramic coating and wrapping I'd go with the latter as it's cheaper. That said ceramic does look very nice.

They dont dip it mate they basically spray it on with the manifold electrically charged. It doesn't cost it internally. Wrapping us awful. As soon as it gets hot gets loose and can just crumble off. Even after its been put on really well on a simple bit of straight pipe

Ceramic coating all the way or none at all:P

You can have manifolds dipped as well to coat the inside. There's an add for it in the back of a couple of the classic mags.
