Hi

Nothing unusual in the pics to worry about. You will need to replace rear quarter panels and it looks like the inner sills/floor will need some work. Wings. 'A' panels and door skins are a given. Flitch panels are likely to need work along with the 'A' posts. Its a Mini so you will have to become best friends with the panel suppliers.

The black bitumen will need to be removed from the floor to get a proper idea of how bad the rust is.

Lots of panels needed there then,

rear valance, both rear closeouts for the valance, rear quarter panels and waist rails, rear arch closeouts, inner sills both sides, outer sills both sides, both front flitches, both front wings and the front panel.

As for the boot floor i would suggest a complete boot floor rather than trying to patch the old holey one.

And to start a build thread go to projects and mini saloons. The bitumen covering will chip off with a hammer and scraper.

Panels: Inner sills, probably sills, Front floors, part of the toe board(maybe) ,the peice under the rear window, flitch's, rear valence, boot floor, door skins, door bottoms (maybe), lower rear quarters,

The black raised stuff on the floor is bitumin sound deadening. I would take it off as there may be rust beneath.

You can get replacement headling, I would take it down carefully, save what you can, you may need it or be able to sell it.

Post your project in the mini saloon part of the project section. And copy the IMG code into your post, by just clicking the "IMG" part on the right hand side and pasting into your post.

1 panel at a time is the best way to go, unless it involves other bits, just dont remove lots of panels at a time.

I would start with removing one of the wings and repairing the apanel, flitch, apost area. then that same side for the floors sills and companian bins. then do the other side, then the boot. Make sure you put braces in when you cut out parts of the floor.

Be careful about recycling panels off another car. Unless they are totally rust free you will be wasting your time.

Where to start, i have started at the front by chopping off the front panel and wings. Then you can see whats what there. If the scuttle is rusty then don't mess about have a good look underneath and if you see any rust then remove the complete thing including the closeouts. You will need these off to weld the flitch in properly.

Now do the flitch panels next. Keep working backwards so off with the outer sills next. Now you need to put some bracing in something like this

IMG_1993_zps66ba9434.jpg

and the reason why i said replace the front panel is the rust will be on the flanges as that is virtually where it starts everytime.

If the front subframe is out you will need to refit it to align the front panel and wings.

If the front panel is free of rust you can reuse it again, just bend it back into place by hand or hammer and dolly if needed. I've Repaired my front panel.

Also you don't need to buy every panel, some panels are pretty easy to make and cheaper. just make a template out of card and trace and cut it out on some sheet metal, either 0.9 or 1.2 in thickness.

It will make life easier especially with the scuttle if it needs to come off. Also its worth having a look on the bulkhead crossmember as well as rust tends to collect there as well.
