Many people dislike Apple and I can understand why. But the one thing they cannot be faulted for is customer service. The problem is these independent stores who simply aren't part of Apple and operate on a different philosophy which can be quite damaging for Apple. I have never heard anyone complain about customer service from there, and I even believe that if you search this forum there is a thread somewhere about it.

sorry but i have to ask, how is it damaging to Apple to give an honest opinion on how they operate? They are a Multi Billion dollar company operating in most countries with millions of customers (not all happy ones) and most independants are trying to make a living with customers in the 1000's and bills to be paid at the end of each month

I deal with their "cast off's" daily and find them to be... actually, i wont say, i'll give you a couple of examples

1. I deal with quite a few macbooks per week that are brought in for data recovery after Apple have deemed them dead (not even beyond ecomonical repair but actually dead) after liquid spillages. After unplugging the keyboards, which 99% of the time, catch most of the liquid, they will boot up and run fine. So for the price of a new keyboard, customers are being told to buy a new £1000 macbook. Sooo... Apple price £1000, Independant price £100 for keyboard and labour Whether this is company policy or just laziness of the "Genius", its bad practise.

2. Data is not Apples concern. They will not care if you have your babies photos, wedding pics, family vids or anything on there. All they will do is replace the HDD and send you away. Again, company policy/laziness???

3. iPhone/iPad Digitizers. They will not replace them. They will quote for a "new" product and as listed above, its not new but a refurbished product. Where do you think yours will go when you leave it with them? I replaced my own cracked digitizer with one from ebay for £22 instead of the £185 apple wanted for a refurb

I have two iPads in the house (me and the wife, i'm not greedy!!!) and have just moved away from the iPhones so i can happily say i'm not biased either way but i cant stand back and let someone say that Apples best point is their customer service as imho its pretty s****y

Yeah it was new to her. Even if it was returned I have no problem with that. As for putting your ear or mouth to one that someone has previously used, I don't see the problem if it's a new front and back case!

In your earlier descriptions you said it was a dealer and that when you took it to an Apple store they said about the poor service? That's from memory an I haven't been back to check that so I might be wrong.

I've never had a problem with their customer service.

Sorry for the late reply. Wahey it works!! Turns out the trackpad wasn't broken I was just probably in a hype and didn't really get to grips with it right away and decided to voice the problems first before thinking which was silly. So anyway this one works and is an amazing bit of kit! Only downside I can think is that the trackpad makes quite allowed click when its pushed but that is not even a first world problem! haha. Yes both stores were apple stores never went to a dealer.

Set it to use gestures, it then used more or less the same group of gestures as your iPad and you will rarely have to properly click it, double tap will do. If you ever think anything is broken or doesn't have enough functionality just remember that it's probably because you are used to Windows. Many people rant about Apple stuff not being customisable or functional when in reality they simply haven't bothered to find out how to do what they want. It does everything differently so leave your Windows head behind and start using the option keys. If you need to find a function look at the top, the menu bar is along the top of the whole screen not the window you have open.

Which 2 Apple stores did you go to?
