Sorry to start another topic on this, but I’m a bit stuck.

As my new rev counter (TIM) came trough the post today  to replace the standard smiths 3 clock one that has finally died,

I’ve been fitting and wiring it all up

So far I have connected up the…

Green wire to the negative side of the coil
Black wire to earth
And the white wire to the sidelight circuit

Which just leaves me with the red one, but wheres best to send this one to?

Cheers,
Karl

Red wire to 12v ignition on feed. Heater supply or something else that only runs with the ignition on.

There should be a couple of free connections on the fuse box for 12v feeds.

When I was wiring mine up we put the red wire to the other side of the coil, the leaflet that came with it said to do this and it work fine. Only problem is it doesnt light up, not sure if theres a bulb in there though, lol

I've finished wiring it all up and connected the red wire to a 12v ignition controlled feed from the fuse box.

Started it up and all works fine

And just as expected the standard 3-clock smiths rev counter is telling porkpies, so will be on the look out for a new one.
