My 92 Mayfair's little A+ 998 has gone bang!!! I've been offered a 1098 engine from a much earlier car (79 I think). Can anyone tell me if there will be any complications in fitting it to my 92 mini?

Should be easy, but you currently have a pre engaged starter, verto clutch and unleaded head and an A+ engine (which the 1098 may not be - there were some A+'s about in 1098 if memory serves but most likely to be A series) the only tricky bit I can see is perhaps having to rewire the starter motor circuit to contend with an inertia starter and swap the head over. Much depends whether the 1098 has all it's ancilliaries... if it does life is much easier, without having to swap bits over that, may not be intended for that engine - e.g dizzy...... The swap is much easier if changing liek for like i.e A+ to A+...nothing is impossible though - just a little more involved...

How on earth... lack of oil aside, have you managed to blow up a 998?????
