lol, theres no way i could afford lyke a year 2000 mini, ive got a 1970 mini cooper S and a 1996 1275cc sprite.

Able to afford to run 2 cars though...

nopes, the sprite is for everyday use, and the cooper S is only used on the track

DO what iv done, for my placement year iv bought a cheap fiat seicento sportign. Cost a grand with 45k on the clock. While the mini is coming to my house soon and im going to be building an engine while on placement. That way i manage to save money rather than running the mini as a daily driver, and is alot less stressful

i had a 1.7 Puma fir a while, cracking motor - never had any probs withit.

sat nicely on motorway and handles well down country tracks. decent boot size too for the size of the car and from memory, very comfy.

if i could have another one i would, avoid the 1.4 version though!!

Yeah I have been a massive fan of Minis for years. I am tempted. Looking to spend around £1.5k - £2k. What sort of things should I look for?

OK Maybe I was wrong about the reliability thing. But how much work does it take to start getting a mini that PULLS (I.e. performance)?

Why not have a cracking driving experience in a mini every day of the week?

If you buy one of the later model minis (P reg and younger), then you'll get a relatively modern EFI engine, that should be as reliable as any other car that's 7 - 10 years old. If you get a well serviced one, then it should be well reliable.

And then you can at least arrive at work in total style, and with a big smile on your face.

the puma is the better car. They are sexy, sporty, COMFORTABLE, RELIABLE.

Sexy- I'd say they don't look bad, whilst a mini looks damn horny.
Sporty- Its a fiesta in drag! :-
Comfortable- Not too bad in the front, if you're not tall, but back is horrendous. Can't remember what boot was like now, although it was bigger than my mates Bini.
Reliable- Maybe so, but a Mini is reliable if its looked after. At least you have a chance of fixing it if it does die on you.

I'd say Mini!!!!!!!!!!!

Mini with a type R engine and its power steering, rip the back seats out and put nice comfortable seats in.
