How can i identify which carb i have, I know it is an SU (suprise suprise) and i have a feeling that it is a HIF 44, but would like to know for certain.
http://i12.ebayimg.c...f6/02_12_sb.JPG is an image of it from above which probably doesn't help sadly it is the only shot i have of it at the moment.
cheers

definately a HIF, but it could be of multiple varieties. You'll need the throat size to be sure.

Well it looks identical to the standard HIF44 as fitted to my 1990 Mainstream Mini Cooper 1.3 if that helps?

aaah, if you have it in yur hand, the check the number on the little shiny tab, an x-ref it on burlen.co.uk. that should tell you exactly what it is!

Well the only way to do that effectively is to get it set up on a rolling road. Mind you I haven't as yet, but I did fit a slighly richer needle (after fitting a Stage One kit and K&N cone type filter like the one in that picture) and it's BFY, where as the original needle was BDP, that's if my memory serves me correct?
