The sound of the ST's engine is simply magical though. Practically sounds like an Audi quattro

Really?

I never knew focus ST was a 2.5 5 cylinder.

Same as I was considering a fiesta ST before I went for a VXR, and I've always thought they were 1.6, not 2.0. Just found that out lol

Have you considered a GTI? I think you can get a Mk5 (the best one) for around £5000. Also, they are dead easy to service, and reliable.

Forget that modern computerised boring rubbish. Go proper hot hatch (and get past that lie the Golf was the first hot hatch)-

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item20d9269474 money to spare to spend on another mini as well.

I'll have to look at insurance on something like a BMW, being RWD I bet insurance is more as has been mentioned.

I quite like Mk5 Golf GTi's, but i'm struggling to see any in budget without massive mileage because they hold their mileage so well. I'm hoping to get something around 70-85k mileage, maybe up to 90k mileage if its got plenty of service history.

Don't fancy getting another old car now, want something modern that I don't need to worry about so much. That capri has worse rust issues than the mini!

Astra VXR?  Bit bigger if you need boot space.

I quite fancy one of them at the moment.

I've had a quick look at Astra VXR's too, but I just think an ST focus would be a better buy for the money. According to revieww it handles better and overall has a better chassis. Also the interior of the VXR looks pretty tragic, similar to my corsa now - All silver painted plastic.
