ive got 8.4 discs with two pot calipers at mo with braided hoses

 

so is there any point going for some 4 pots?

 

or do i just get some uprated discs and pads?

As I said before, get some Mintex M1144 pads and refurb the callipers if necessary.
Rear brakes, replace drums and shoes if necessary and properly adjust them. Check wheel cylinders as well.

You may need to change the brake fluid depending on when it was last done too.

There's no doubt you'll notice an improvement with 4 pots, but that's only because you will have replaced your old worn out setup for brand new items.

Save yourself a few hundred pounds and get your existing brake setup working to its full potential.
