I can't make my megajolt talk to my laptop and I hate the fact that it's the modern technology screwing up my mini so I'm thinking of going back to a distributor.

Question is, will I distributor work with the advance curve? Would a metro turbo unit do?

Whats the spec of your engine ? obviously a distributor cant be mapped by the degree but I see your reason if your having trouble

Does the guy who produces the megajolt offer any support or warranty? If you do get rid of it and are looking to sell it I would be interested in buying it off you.

I doubt the Metro Turbo dizzy will be anywhere near correct for your spec. You can get a dizzy tailored to suit your engine, but first you need to know the advance curve your engine requires.
Have you asked for help on the Megasquirt forum ? You must be pretty desperate to want to go back to a clockwork ignition.

Phil.

I've posted on auto sport labs but am still awaiting reply.

I'm getting very desperate. I can't use the van with the ignition as far out as it is and can't adjust it as I can't talk to the mega jolt box.

I don't want to be spending more money on it though as it's already cost a fortune!

I don't have a clue what advance curve I need!

Have you installed the usb properly, is it using the correct com port? I was desperate last year with mine, it turns out that the lead out of the mj unit into the usb was broken inside. Very cheap fix, if you have it all installed properly otherwise

Driver software came with the USB-serial cable. I've tried 4 different USB-serial cables. 2 different laptops. Com port is matched between laptop and mj programme.

If you're talking about the USB-serial converter cable (http://www.atozstars...p?idproduct=424) then I have tried 4 different ones

Could still be the cable. We use them to link between a laptop and our motor controller on the electric cars we race. There are at least three varieties on how they are wired up. We have one that works but had a nightmare trying to get a spare. In the end I took it all down to a local computer shop and through their stock until we found one that worked.

I purchsed all of my parts from trigger wheels. At least you know they are likely to work out of the packet.

This setup was already installed when I bought the van. The cable that came with it wasn't even recognised by either laptop.
