temperature sender

i have recently put on a stage 2 head form mor speed on my mini but when i went 2 put in the new temp sender in 2 the head it was 2 long on the thread does anyone no of a shorter 1 (i.e was there a shorter 1 on the metro)

why not just pack it out with some washers. i mean if you can't find a stubby temp sensor.

yeah that was my other option just dont look as good allthough could paint it in with the head so it blends in
i will take the sender 2 the L2B tomorrow and ask the advice of the trade stands see if they can help

define too long. The thread is tapered which does leave a few threads showing.

well if not washer then make a nice spacer. somthing out of alu then polish it up. add a little bit of bright work.

does it tighten properly? just leaves about 5mm of thread visible? Sound OK if it does.....

yes it makes a complete seal i think i will have 2 make a spacer out brass and polish it or ali and paint it

if you make a spacer and its even slightly too long, it'll destroy the seal and leave your engine leaking. too short and it defeats the point of the spacer....

Tapered thread sensor in a tapered thread hole will seal with a bit of PTFE tape, that is how it works.

Use any sort of spacer to bottom the sensor on the nut part is incorrect and not nescisiary (sp)

Don't look to fix a problem that isn't there. That is unless you have the wrong sensor to start, then that is your problem and easily fixed with the correct item. There were only two types fitted to the mini with a carb and i doubt you will have the earlier one.

I realy dont think you have any problem. I think thats what Pikey is trying to say.
