Hi again,

After having an assessment on the repair costs of the car my insurers have informed me that they have calculated the repair work to cost £2200..

I'm no expert but this seems excessive. They have valued the car at £1300, it has 120,000 miles on the clock but I'm sure I could sell it for over £2000.

Basically I just want the car to be roadworthy again, and as the damage is only on the surface I surely can get this done for under £1000?

I think my next step will be to get a 2nd opinion on the cost of the repairs, I'm in Hemel Hempstead and would massively appreciate any suggestions, even if they are not close enough to physically inspect the car.

My thinking at the moment is that I will probably have to accept at cash offer and get the repair work done using that money...

Thanks in advance!!!

Do this, but don't accept the first offer!

You can probably buy a second hand boot lid for under 20 quid!

Did the person inspecting it look in the boot?

No the boot hasn't been opened yet..?

I will put a case together to demonstrate a greater value of the car than they have given me.

Thanks.

It'd be very hard to give an accurate estimate without opening the boot!

If you need a boot lid I've got a couple!

Seems like a good opportunity to get the boot floor replaced as it certainly looks a bit crusty!

It's miles away from hitting the subframe and the damage certainly appears superficial!
