I have to agree that interior fuel lines on a road car really isn't very sensible. I can certainly see the point of them on a track, or rally car, due to the risk of ripping the fuel line off during the race and therefore being out of the event. But as I often say here, the track and the road are two very different environments, with very different hazards and safety systems in place. In an autosport event the driver is likely to be wearing flame retardant clothing, there should be medical and fire/rescue cover on hand and you're unlikely to be involved in a head on impact with a transit van! The benefits of having an interior fuel line on a track/rally car therefore far outweigh the potential risks that it poses.
In a road car though I don't see that there is any real benefit, other than it providing a track/rally look. The forces involved in a potential road collision are much less predictable than in auto sport and the emergency services aren't immediately on hand if something goes wrong either, therefore the risks of an interior fuel line on a road car far outweigh the benefits. Putting an interior battery cable next to an interior fuel line is even less sensible. Any collision that's likely to fracture a copper fuel line, will undoubtedly also damage the battery cable as well, creating an ignition source virtually on top of escaping fuel!
