Theres no need to start that course for flatting and polishing. P1000 is as low as I have would go. Then 1500 and finish with a p3000 trizact pad prior to polish.

Agreed if you've done a decent job of spraying first, however if you have some runs, or painted with a roller or a brush you'll need to start coarser to get a flat surface. I'm not sure how flat a surface an airless sprayer (that started this thread) would give, it might be very lumpy. Whatever you do you can get an excellent finish with a bit of time and effort.

Oh yes, I forgot to say let the paint harden first, not sure how long, I'm sure someone will say.

i know of someone who painted his car with a self pump sprayer the ones that you paint your fences with and it came out very good must admit he did have to polish it up a fair bit

I've got the spray gun now, and I've got a boot lid to trial it on - wish me luck!
