Adam, if you end up sorting something like this for March/ April time next year I would be very interested, although I could happily use a trackday for a shakedown pre-season. I have a couple of mates who will be up for it too, local to York.

Someone did get back to me from Yorkshire Autodrome, and it sounded promising. He didn't have the prices though, he's going to get back to me with those, he said they're changing at the moment. If it looks good price wise I'll arrange to go over and have a look round with a view to setting something up pre-season next year.

It'd probably be set up as a shared private test session, with a twisty sprint style layout with plenty of run off, one car on the course at once - keeps things simple, and means you can push as hard as you like.

1. Set your alarm for 3 am

2. Drive to local Tesco or Waitrose

3. Let nature take its course :-)

Seriously tho' if you need something maybe we can get an old airfield... Plenty around us (east yorks)...

Sounds very promising.  Would the track / airfield allow passengers???  Just a thought that perhaps hot laps may be a way to  get a bit of the cash back, and i'm sure some TMF'ers will fancy a ride in a proper fast mini....alot will only have ever experienced the massive power of a standard 998.

Either way...keep us posted and i'm sure it will happen.

Good question, if we book it as a private test session then I don't think there'd be anything wrong with having a passenger as such, but if you start advertising passenger rides for TMF members then you might get into liability territory. I had to learn a bit about that when I was training to be a climbing instructor and doing a bit of work at the climbing wall and it made me fairly paranoid when I saw what people will sue each over.

For me personally, I'd say a proper track is the best place for passenger rides, let's see if I change my mind when we see how much this place is to hire out :)

I'm going to give Elvington a ring as well and see how much that is.

Sorry all, some stuff has come up both at work and at home since christmas so I havn't had chance to look into this, and I'm also now a bit behind with getting the mini ready and not exactly sure when I'll be ready to run. A couple of good weekends working on the car should give me an idea, but then I'll probably be looking at Barkston Heath spritn track days with Javelin and maybe a Piston Heads Curborough day - I'll post when I know what I'm doing anyway.
