Set of 5 x 'BARN FIND' Dunlop Denovo steel rims with tyres from a 1275GT Mini.

All five rims still have the genuine dunlop tyre fitted and are well treaded!!

No immediate signs of cracks or damage to the tyre's although the rims themselves would benefit from a good refurb.

These are become increasingly rare now and are pretty hard to obtain.

£250

Collection in person...

Or can be delivered anywhere in the UK at extra cost.

Any questions call 07765 967 191.

Wouldn't advise using them though, tyres may look fine, but I wouldn't trust them

Why would the tyres not be safe on the road ? how can you make that statement without looking at them or even knowing how old they are etc ?

Because they are at least 30 years old and the manor of their storage and their internal structural integrity cannot be assessed externally.

Anyone got an x-ray or MRI scanner handy to see if they have de-laminated internally before committing their own and other's lives to these tyres ??

It is the same thing with 30+ year old alloy wheels, how do you know they are safe to use, particularly magnesium alloys which become porus with age and are prone to stress cracking after all these years.

Fine for display purposes but not safe for highway use unless NDT/x-ray/crack detection etc has been performed.

Phil.

If you hired or borrowed a car would you check the production dates on the tyres........no,  have you checked the dates on your own tyres........more than likely not, you have no idea how he has stored them and neither do I, they may have only been in the barn for weeks, they might have been wrapped up properly, if you wanted to be really anal you could take the tyres off and have a look at the inside casing, you don't need x ray vision.

Anyway whats the worst case scenario......you have a blow out !!!! theyre run flats ffs anyway, lol

All of this is true I guess, but I wouldn't be hiring a 30 year old car to drive to the airport or go on holiday with my family.  And yes the tyres may be in perfect condition, have been stored correctly and only for a short period of time.

However Denovo tyres are now very old indeed, and in my opinion and my opinion only no longer viable for road use.  You are free to make your own judgement and make your own choice.  I won't be fitting any 30+ year old tyres on my vehicle.

Phil.
