Tyres only have a life of about 5 or so years before they start to lose structual integrity.
I was merely pointing it out from a safety point of view nothing more, they are your tyres and what you choose to do is your choice.
Just offering a bit of friendly knowledge.
Cheers

Run flats are designed to run safely during a fast deflation not a catestrofic strucural failure.
Agreed they are getting rare these days but in all honesty suitable for show use only in my opinion,

^^ totally agreed, tires do have an expiration date, and considering they're the only contact you have between the road and what is essentially a metal cage powered by internal combustion you happen to be sat inside of traveling at whatever speed would anyone really want to take the chance?
and Captain Buggernuts? did your keyboard break down? half way through the post you switched to all caps, am sat here at 3 in the morning and instead of reading your posts in my head i have to scream them through a megaphone out the window
that's what caps lock does, it ruins lives...

I am in no way an expert on tyres, but working inthe motor trade I do know that these tyres are nearly 30 years old. For that reason, they are past their best......
The British Rubber Manufacturers Association (BRMA) recommended practice issued June, 2001, states BRMA members strongly recommend that unused tyres should not be put into service if they are over six years old and that all tyres should be replaced ten years from the date of their manufacture.
Environmental conditions like exposure to sunlight and coastal climates, as well as poor storage and infrequent use, accelerate the aging process. In ideal conditions, a tyre may have a life expectancy that exceeds ten years from its date of manufacture. However, such conditions are rare. Aging may not exhibit any external indications and, since there is no non-destructive test to assess the serviceability of a tyre, even an inspection carried out by a tyre expert may not reveal the extent of any deterioration.
Hope that clears the safety issue up slightly.
Good luck with the sale

Since Dunlop were offering a swap for your Denovos and £100 in 1989 for a brand new set of 12" wheels and tyres to get out of making Denovos. that would make the tyres older than yourself. Forget the age part, but have you ever driven a car on Denovos? I might even have a set of hub caps for denovo mini wheels somewhere.

"in all this 'hype and assumption' not one of you on here has asked what or why they or were in a barn and how long they have been off the car."
that's kind of your job mate since you're the one selling them, maybe if you went into more detail in the description and provided better pictures, considering you are asking for £250 may be worth while busting out the old bucket and sponge and cleaning them up a tad
Good luck with the sale

They are perfect for a concourse car and should sell easily to someone restoring a 1275gt, in the ford scene people go mad for original 3 door cosworth spec Dunlop d40 tyres and can't see these hanging about if the right buyer comes along. If they are safe or not is not really of importance for this purpose as most the cars are trailered. Good luck with the sale.
Cheers daz1968, you just get some small minded 'know it alls' on here who jump to conclusion's when realisticly they know nothing and just spuriate nonsence....
