What do you mean by a fake?

Not a real 61. Just a '61 V5 on a later car.

Defintiely a logbook special....but a lot of money spent by the looks of things although by the sound of the description not particularly on the right things.....tatty engine bay and a reluctant to start when warm does imply a few issues lurking...coupled with a maxed out engine may spell significant expense to come....

I have no issues with these cars - to my mind fair play to the guys that build them and get away with it....providing they're not ringers in the process....

I was under the probably mistaken illusion that the only way this could be done wholly legally would be to use a heritage shell though... always make me wonder what, if any of the original car remains...I'd guess almost nothing.....

That is a real 'ringer' It not as if an original Mk.1 has been built into a Mk.3 onwards shell with everything as original as possible otherwise, as is the case with a Mini 850 I saw recently. This is a later car with an early identity - ripe for crushing if DVLA find out!

Value is as parts, so maybe around £1500, although the shell with the fibreglass front is virtually worthless when stripped, but a proper steel front could be welded back on to make it viable for re-building as a classic car.

I think it's a case of 'caveat emptor' (buyer beware).

But then there's always going to be people who want an early V5 so that either they can put it on their later car, or so they can use an early car with no V5.

Exactly might have been reshelled a long time ago so not necessarily a fake just not original!

has a later heater assy, even the cap for the brake m/c is a later one

But it depends when it was reshelled....

Due to the shell age, well after reshelling was made illegal.
