Thanks for all the responses. I've reported to it to the police, if anything just to add it to the statistics.

I've seen some suggestions elsewhere of covering the mirrors in vaseline in case they are using hand rather than foot which will not only make it slippery but cause some, albeit brief, confusion. Sure I will still end up without wing mirrors though!

are you able to rig up a video camera from your flat over looking your mini

Perhaps, could make things interesting if I see my neighbour come out his flat and karate kick them off rather than some drunken yob!

I doubt this would work, they would probs steal it..

Agreed, I'd need to chain it down.

Ordered some new mirrors off minispares. Might start screwing them on each time I drive for a few months, I'm a weekend driver so the inconvenience is minimal, and then try my luck again next year leaving them on in case the culprit has moved on, matured, or ended up in prison for a more serious crime.

Paint your wing mirrors in that anti climb paint, sticks like crap to a blanket so if they are using their hands they will have very black hands for days :P

We live next to a park and the footpath is used by idiots coming back from town. We have had various stupid acts of vandalism over the years (wheelie bin on top of the car for example). Whilst all the ideas of booby trapping the mirrors sounds good the sad reality is that they will then just take it out on the car and you may well come back to a broken windscreen or dented panels. What needs to happen is for the courts to take it seriously if they are caught. The couple of times scumbags have been caught round here the courts response has been very poor to say the least.

Ah yes, also small enough to be in a special hidden compartment that actives when someone is near - launching the honey badger into the would be vandals face. = No more face, no more vandalism.

if you have an old laptop and webcam use that as cctv as long as your near a light and the webcam can see it it will record and if you can find one somewhere theres software that sends it out on the internet so if you pop to the shops andleave the mini at home you can check on your phone :)

I used to live on a main road and from what I used to see I think quite often kids are too easy to blame for this stuff, blokes in their 50's probably with sensible jobs come monday morning smashing the bus shelter are not kids for example!

Invent a click lock system where you can just slide on and off your wing mirrors, that way, you can just remove them whenever you're parked
